Silesian Beskid

miniaturka

Silesian Beskid is the westernmost range of the Polish Beskids, located between Ustroń, Bielsko-Biała, and Żywiec. From the east, the Silesian Beskid borders with the Little Beskid (north-east) and the Żywiecki Beskid (south-east). The main centers and tourist trail junctions in the Silesian Beskid are Wisła and Szczyrk, and the most scenic, frequently and eagerly conquered peaks are Czantoria, Barania Góra, Skrzyczne and Malinowska Skała and Szyndzielnia along with its neighbors: Błatnia and Klimczok.

Silesian Beskid with children

The Silesian Beskid, due to the popularity of the region, especially among the residents of nearby Silesia, is considered the most "trampled" and least "wild" of the Beskids, but it enjoys the best infrastructure: there are the most tourist shelters and restaurants on the trails (e.g. Szyndzielnia, Klimczok, Błatnia, Stefanka on Kozia Góra, Czantoria, Soszów Wielki, Stożek Wielki, on Przysłop under Barania Góra, Skrzyczne), the most year-round cable cars and ski lifts (e.g. to Skrzyczne, to Czantoria, Soszów, Stożek), and the tourist trails are very well marked and maintained.

Undoubtedly, all this is of great importance when we want to go to the mountains with children!

Silesian Beskid - the most beautiful views and observation towers

We go to the mountains mainly to... walk in the mountains, conquer peaks, and admire the beautiful panoramic views. The Silesian Beskid offers us many scenic ridges (e.g. between Malinowska Skała and Skrzyczne, Ochodzita in Koniaków, Cieńków ridge above Wisła).

Where the mountain tops are forested, observation towers have been built (e.g. Barania Góra, Czantoria Wielka) that allow us to rise above the treetops and enjoy wide and distant panoramas.

Trails in the Silesian Beskid

Did you know that the famous long-distance (the longest in Poland) Main Beskid Trail starts in the Silesian Beskid? The beginning of the red marks is in Ustroń (PKS Ustroń Zdrój), and the end - only after 500 km in Wołosate in the Bieszczady Mountains.

Apart from the main, red one, it is also worth walking on other "colorful routes", conquer the highest peak of the range, i.e. Skrzyczne, "both Czantories", or the easily accessible Szyndzielnia:

Silesian Beskid - attractions for children and not only!

What besides the mountains is worth our attention in the vicinity of Ustroń, Wisła, and Szczyrk? The tourist base offers a whole host of diverse attractions also in the valleys! We highly recommend you, for example, to visit the Czerniańskie Lake in Wisła (it's a reservoir where at the foot of Barania Góra the White and Black Wisełka join together, giving rise to the queen of Polish rivers) and go for a walk along the asphalted Biała Wisełka Valley to the Rodło cascades:

An asphalt road (perfect for a forest walk with a stroller) also leads through the Zimnik Valley:

It's worth to visit the Forest Park of Surprises on Równica in Ustroń, the Center for Environmental Education in Wisła, and go on a trip to the most secluded corner of the Silesian Beskid (or rather already Jabłonków - Koniaków Inter-mountain), i.e. "Trójwsi Beskidzka" (Istebna - Jaworzynka - Koniaków) and the "Three Borders" (PL - SK - CZ) in Jaworzynka.

Ps. New borders of the Silesian Beskid - map

In order to determine the borders of the region, we rely on the latest findings of the Polish Academy of Sciences, i.e. the monograph Regional Physical Geography of Poland published in 2018. So for accuracy: in the "Silesian Beskid" tab on our website you will find routes and places from the mesoregions: Silesian Beskid 513.45 and Jabłonków - Koniaków Inter-mountain 513.55
