The Biała Wisełka Valley and a walk to the picturesque waterfalls forming the famous Rodła Cascades is a suggestion for an easy and interesting trip in the Silesian Beskids for everyone. You can go here with a stroller, bike, and for more ambitious hikers, it's a perfect introduction to the journey to the scenic summit of Barania Góra.
Biała Wisełka Valley - the most beautiful place in the Silesian Beskids?
A hundred years ago, the author of Beskids guides, Kazimierz Sosnowski, described the Biała Wisełka Valley as "the most beautiful place in the Silesian Beskids". Indeed, the forest valley enchants many hikers with its charm: steep, rocky northern shore, numerous cascades on the stream, whose frothy waters on rocky thresholds seem white (hence the name of the stream: Biała Wisełka).
Trail with a stroller in the Silesian Beskids
Apart from natural values, the blue trail of the Biała Wisełka Valley has another big plus: it leads along a comfortable asphalt road. Thanks to this, it is accessible for families with children in strollers, disabled people and people with limited mobility. Perhaps asphalt is not what we like most in the mountains, but it has its advantages: on rainy or winter days, we will definitely not get stuck here knee-deep in mud.
Such a convenient road will lead us almost to the Rodła Cascades, the most picturesque waterfall in the Silesian Beskids.
After the bridge at the mouth of the Wątrobnego Stream, the road is already gravel-stone. However, it is worth overcoming these few dozen meters, because the waterfall is very close!
Rodła Cascades Waterfalls - where does this name come from?
Picturesque waterfalls on the Wątrobnego Stream are considered the most beautiful water cascades in all the Beskids. There are several thresholds in total, reaching a height of 5 m.
The name "Rodła Cascades" was given to them in 1987 in memory of the Union of Poles in Germany established in the interwar period. The symbol of their organization was a stylized letter S, supposed to resemble the course of the Vistula River. This sign was named "Rodło" from the combination of the words "family" and "emblem". You will see it on the information board at the waterfall.
Biała Wisełka - additional attractions
During a walk in the Biała Wisełka Valley, we will encounter a few "developed" places along the way: tables, benches, large closed shelters. This is the background for the sleigh rides organized here in winter. The benches and tables are available to all tourists.
The Biała Wisełka Valley leads a nature trail. It's a part of the Wisła Czarne - Barania Góra - Biała Wisełka Valley route, so while walking up the valley we come across signs with decreasing numbers. Don't miss the comic board about capercaillies!
Biała Wisełka and all its tributaries are protected as the "Wisła Reserve" (protection of the brown trout). This means that although we do not enter the water, do not bathe, etc., but approaching the very edge, throwing pebbles and other such water games are allowed and will certainly be an additional attraction for the youngest during the walk!
Blue trail of the Biała Wisełka Valley - practical information
- Trail accessible for strollers, bikes, dogs on a leash.
- Several places with benches and tables along the way.
- At the entrance to the trail, large free parking at the Wisła Czarne Fire Station.
PS. Behind the Rodła Cascades, the blue trail climbs a steep path up the stream: towards the border of the Barania Góra Reserve and the very scenic peak of Barania Góra (1215 m above sea level). This is definitely not a trail for strollers, but we highly recommend it to walking hikers!
