Bielsko-Biała lies at the foot of the Beskid Mountains. It is often called "Little Vienna" because of its elegant old buildings. The city also has interesting museums and easy access to mountain trails, many of which can be reached by public transport.
Today\'s Bielsko-Biała was created by joining two separate towns: Bielsko and Biała. For many centuries, they developed on opposite sides of the Biała River. This river once formed a state border and separated Silesia from Lesser Poland. The town of Biała was part of the Kingdom of Poland. Many elegant buildings were built during this time, and they still give the city its special character. Bielsko and Biała officially became one city in 1951.

1. Market Square in Old Bielsko
The Old Town Market Square is the historic center of old Bielsko and one of the most important places in Bielsko-Biała. Both former towns had their own centers, but only Bielsko had a classic medieval market square. Today it is still known as the Old Town Market Square.
The square is surrounded by colorful townhouses and keeps its historic layout. It is the heart of the old part of the city. It is a great place for coffee, a short rest, and enjoying the architecture.
2. Sułkowski Castle, the "Three Children" Fountain, and the "Abundance" stained-glass window
One of the city\'s most important monuments is Sułkowski Castle, which dates back to the Middle Ages. For centuries, it was both a defensive building and a residence. Near the castle you can see a fountain and the Bielsko "Abundance" stained-glass window, the largest non-religious stained-glass window in Poland. 3. St. Nicholas Cathedral

4. 11 Listopada Street - the main pedestrian street
The history of this street is connected with the First Galician Postal and Trade Road. It was commonly called the "imperial road" or the "Vienna route". It was built to connect Biała with Lviv through Kraków and Przemyśl. From 1773, horse post operated on the route from Bielsko to Lviv, and from 1775 stagecoaches also used it.
Today, the street is a pedestrian area with many shops, cafes, and restaurants.
5. Polish Army Square - and the famous frogs
This is one of the two old market squares of the former town of Biała. It was laid out in 1723, when Biała received town rights. Here you will find a fountain with friendly frog sculptures, which refer to the frogs on a nearby townhouse. Around the square, also look for small monuments of characters from the Polish animated series "The Abduction of Baltazar Gąbka": the Wawel Dragon, Bartolini Bartłomiej of the Green Parsley coat of arms, and the spy Don Pedro de Pommidore. 6. The "House Under the Frogs"
This Art Nouveau townhouse stands on the corner of Polish Army Square and is one of the city\'s most charming buildings. Its decorative facade imitates half-timbered architecture, and there are bay windows above the entrances. On the wall facing Targowa Street, you can see insect reliefs and a portal with two frog figures dressed in tailcoats. One frog plays a mandolin, while the other holds a pipe in one hand and a glass in the other, leaning on a barrel.
7. OKO Fairy Tale and Animation Center at the Animated Film Studio in Bielsko-Biała
This multimedia exhibition shows the history and modern world of animation. It is located in the OKO Interactive Fairy Tale and Animation Center at the Animated Film Studio in Bielsko-Biała. The modern building includes not only a museum, but also a cinema, a cafe, and a souvenir shop.
