Szyndzielnia (1,028 m a.s.l.) is a peak in the Silesian Beskids in southern Poland, just above the city of Bielsko-Biała. It is well known and easy to reach. What should you know, what attractions are here, and which trail is best to get to the top?
Szyndzielnia - attractions at the top
Why visit Szyndzielnia? What is interesting at the summit?
Views from Szyndzielnia
The very top of Szyndzielnia is forested — apart from taking a photo with the summit sign, there is not much to do right on the peak. The best viewpoint faces southwest at the mountain hut, with wide views including the majestic Babia Góra massif.
Here are a few more views from Szyndzielnia, this time at sunrise:
View tower on Szyndzielnia
For even wider, 360° panoramas, visit the viewing terrace on the tower by the upper gondola station, about 1 km from the summit (600 m from the hut). Note: paid entry, and the tower is open only during the gondola's operating hours.
Observation Tower on Szyndzielnia
The observation tower on Szyndzielnia is an extra attraction for tourists who take the gondola lift and for hikers who reach the peak using the extensive network of walking trails. Built in 2015, the 18-meter high tower allows us to rise above the treetops and enjoy beautiful views in all directions. ...
PTTK mountain hut on Szyndzielnia - history
The mountain hut just below the summit has a long, rich history. Did you know it is the oldest preserved hut in the Polish Beskids? See how this place looked at the beginning of the 20th century:
Apple pie at the PTTK Szyndzielnia hut
Today you will find rooms, a large restaurant, a grill bar, a souvenir shop, and a view terrace with deckchairs. If you like something sweet, note that in September 2025 the apple pie at the PTTK Szyndzielnia hut was named the Best Mountain Apple Pie in Poland during the A. Zawada Mountain Festival in Lądek-Zdrój.
Staying on Szyndzielnia with children
The PTTK Szyndzielnia hut offers accommodation in its hotel section. For the youngest guests there are travel cots with bedding and potties. Overnight guests can also borrow a child carrier backpack. There is a small kids' corner with board games and puzzles.
Good to know: in spring 2025 the hotel section was fully renovated. This is how the refreshed interiors look now:

Szyndzielnia highlights — facts and curiosities
The hut on Szyndzielnia is the oldest preserved mountain hut in the Polish Beskids (with only small rebuilds). It was built by the German hiking association Beskidenverein in 1897.
Szyndzielnia is also one of the best-developed and easiest-to-reach peaks in the Beskids. There is a gondola (the first one opened in post‑war Poland), a dense network of hiking and cycling trails (including downhill), a mountain hut, a view tower, and in winter a small ski slope.
