A multimedia exhibition about the history and present of animation is located in the Interactive Fairy Tale and Animation Centre at the OKO Animated Film Studio in Bielsko-Biała, southern Poland. While walking through the historic center of Bielsko-Biała, have you seen statues of Poland’s favorite cartoon characters: Reksio, Bolek and Lolek? Now it’s time to discover how these classic evening cartoons were made—and even create your own short animated film!
Interactive exhibition – OKO Centre
Across two floors you will learn the steps of making an animated film: choosing characters, creating scenes, and recording the soundtrack. You will see both traditional stop‑motion methods and modern 3D animation.
The exhibition combines original historic items with multimedia, interactive screens. You can watch film clips made at the Animated Film Studio in Bielsko-Biała (both classic and recent titles), read fun facts, and solve simple puzzles and tasks.
OKO Animation Centre – make your own film!
A special extra for visitors is the chance to create your own mini movie. The Create your own animation path runs next to the main educational route. As you go through themed rooms, you use your personal QR code at stations to choose a hero, a setting, and a soundtrack—step by step. At the end you can watch the finished result!
Visiting the OKO Centre – practical info
- Open daily except Mondays
- Mornings are mostly for school and group visits; individual visitors usually come in the afternoon and on weekends
- Buy timed tickets online in advance
- The exhibition is for everyone, but the content and on-screen puzzles are best for older children and teenagers (about 7+)
- Spacious and accessible: easy with a stroller or wheelchair; there is an elevator
- On site: souvenir shop, café, and a small cinema (check the website for the current program)
