Where to go for a walk in Krakow?

Sometimes we don't want to travel far, spend a lot of time in traffic jams, and get bored in the car - especially since the city itself offers many extraordinary places, including those where we can feel like in the countryside! Check out our suggestions for a walk in Krakow!

Royal Mill Stream

Did you know that this is the longest park in Poland? It stretches from Mydlniki to Radio Krakow and is a remnant of the former Rudawa canal, which supplied water to Krakow. The waters of the Royal Mill Stream powered the king's mills - hence its name. They also supplied water to the Wawel chambers and the moat around the walls of old Krakow. Today, in place of the mill stream, we have asphalt alleys with playgrounds, but in Mydlniki, the old riverbed has been preserved.

Nowohucki Reservoir

The park by Nowohucki Reservoir is a green oasis that used to separate the industrial area from residential estates. Today, it is a city park where everyone can find something for themselves: walking paths, playgrounds, sports fields, water sports equipment rentals, a brine inhalation facility, a mini beach, and food trucks.

Nowohuckie Meadows

These green areas in Nowa Huta were created in the place of the former riverbed of the Vistula River, which flowed here as early as the 18th century. There is a path around the meadows, and the route is mainly sunny. We can rest in the adjacent Zeromski Park, which has been renovated. It is worth bringing binoculars for the walk, as the meadows are a habitat for many bird species.

Route to the Airport Viewpoint

Just outside the borders of Krakow - an extraordinary walking route perfect for a family trip. The path leads us through meadows to a hill with a view of the runway at Balice Airport. You will immediately notice the planes approaching for landing - they are so close! It is worth bringing a picnic blanket and binoculars for the walk. You can also check the landing times, for example, through the flightradar website. Depending on the wind direction, planes may take off or land in this direction.
