A proposal for a family walk and viewpoint!
The area around the Krakus Mound is a vast green area with benches, places for a picnic blanket, and one of the most beautiful views of the city! Right next to it is the Liban Quarry. The Krakus Mound is undoubtedly one of the most charming, green corners of Krakow with a legendary history!
Viewing meadow under the Krakus Mound
Surrounded by extensive, sunny meadows with benches and views of the center of Krakow and the Liban Quarry - perfect for a family picnic. On Tuesday after Easter, the R臋kawka festival is celebrated here - knight shows combined with a medieval fair.
Krakus Mound - Still Full of Secrets!
According to legends dating back to at least the 15th century, the Mound was considered the burial place of the founder of Krakow, King Krakus, and his daughter. The Mound is 16 meters high from the base (271 meters above sea level). Most likely, it was a place of pagan worship - Krakus Mound, Wawel Hill, and Wanda Mound form an isosceles triangle. Today, it is an interesting and relatively rarely visited viewpoint by tourists.
Liban Quarry
The charm of the place is enhanced by the nearby beautiful Liban Quarry, named after one of the co-founders of the labor camp that existed here during the war. Scenes for the camp were filmed here for Steven Spielberg's movie Schindler's List. For this purpose, a set was built (a road with tombstones), many fragments of which remain to this day.
