How to combine a family walk with attractions for children? We propose a route to the viewpoint at Balice Airport.

  • These are country roads with picturesque views, free from cars, perfect for a walk with your dog.
  • To reach the viewpoint at the airport, you can either walk from the Krak贸w Olszanica railway station (trains from Wieliczka-Krak贸w G艂贸wny-Lotnisko run approximately every half an hour) or from the Szczyglice-Podkamycze MPK bus stop (suburban buses from Bronowice Ma艂e run here).
  • It's worth taking a picnic blanket and your own food for the trip - there is a large meadow at the viewpoint.
  • The route is mainly sunny, so pack sunscreen and headscarves because it can get windy here!
  • There is a pizzeria with a garden and a view of the ponds on Trzech Staw贸w street.

Where in Krak贸w is the best view of landing planes?

At the airport itself, you won't see much, and the viewing terrace is paid. At the nearby viewpoint, you can see planes approaching for landing. They are almost right above our heads! From above, you can also see the airport and the runways. The walk itself is very pleasant and scenic, among picturesque fields, and you can already see low-flying planes along the way.

Access from Trzech Staw贸w street and Szczyglice-Podkamycze MPK bus stop

You can take buses 226 and 218 (departure from Bronowice Ma艂e) to the Szczyglice-Podkamycze stop. From there, walk along Podkamycze street and Pi臋ciu Staw贸w street, then turn right and take the country roads to reach the viewpoint.

The country path, which is attractive in terms of landscape, mainly leads us through sunny areas, along the edge of the forest. The walk is enlivened by planes flying very low here. It takes a little over half an hour (2.6 km from the bus stop) to reach the viewpoint at a leisurely pace. The path is not suitable for strollers as there can be ruts.

It's also a good idea to have any device with GPS navigation with you, as there are many paths, and it is not a marked trail, so it's easy to get lost.

Access from the viewpoint at the airport from the Krak贸w Olszanica station

Krak贸w Olszanica is a small station on the route of trains going from Wieliczka through Krak贸w G艂贸wny to the airport. We immediately arrive among country roads - we walk along a gravel road slightly uphill and then downhill, with a row of apple trees on the left. This is how we reach the edge of the forest and turn left. It takes about half an hour to walk to the viewpoint at the airport - it's a good idea to have a phone with navigation to have a rough idea of which direction to go, as it is not a marked trail. There are quite a few country paths here, although on weekends there are quite a few walkers in this area whom you can ask for directions.
