Interesting Facts about Muczne
Despite its small size, the village has its secrets and an interesting history:
- In the late 16th century, there was a settlement called Dołhyłuh, and the current name comes from the Muczne stream.
- In the early 20th century, a narrow-gauge railway line for wood transportation and a forester's lodge on Jeleniowate called "Brenzberg" were established here.
- Near the ruins of the Brenzberg forester's lodge, there is a memorial site for 74 Poles who were murdered here by UPA units in 1944.
- In the 1970s, there was a closed government facility in Muczne, where the highest officials and their foreign guests came for hunting. During that time, the village changed its name to "Kazimierzowo" (possibly in honor of "the great huntsman" Kazimierz Doskoczyński).
