Stołowe  (Stoł means table in Polish) Mountains are the youngest mountains in Poland - maybe that's why they are so loved by the youngest tourists?

After all, what child wouldn't enjoy rocky mazes, corridors, and corners? One of the advantages of Stołowe Mountains is the absence of typical mountain climbing - which means no tiring uphill routes.

The range of Stołowe Mountains is located in the Sudetes, on the border of Poland and the Czech Republic.

Top Attractions of Polish Stołowe Mountains

The most interesting part of the Polish Stołowe Mountains is located in the Lower Silesian Voivodeship, near Kłodzko. In 1993, the Stołowe Mountains National Park was established, and although it is one of the smaller parks (covering only 63.4016 km2), it can confidently compete for a place on the podium with its uniqueness and charm!

1. Szczeliniec Wielki (919m above sea level) - the highest peak of Stołowe Mountains

The Szczeliniec Wielki massif, formed by an uplifted and fissured rocky block, is considered one of the greatest attractions of the Sudetes and one of the most interesting peaks of the Polish Mountains Crown. It's worth getting lost in its mysterious depths, squeezing through moss-covered steep rock walls, and climbing up to the observation terraces - especially since its summit was inaccessible for centuries!

Stołowe Mountains - Legend and Coloring Book for Children

They say that long, long ago, a gloomy castle stood on top of Szczeliniec. From morning till night, one could hear the creaking of old wooden doors and windows. The castle was inhabited by an evil sorcerer and his beautiful daughter. One day, a caravan from Africa passed near the castle, and the girl fell in love with a young, dark-skinned merchant.

Perhaps it was the sorcerer's curse, or maybe the anger of the Spirit of the Liczyrzepa Mountains itself, that caused the sky above the castle to rumble at night, and a thunderbolt struck one of the castle towers, reducing the mighty fortress to a pile of stones. The castle servants, the merchant, and his exotic animals also turned into stone.

To this day, while walking on the top of Szczeliniec, we will come across the petrified Monkey, Camel, Elephant, the rock formation called Murzynka, and the Maiden gazing into the distance.
