Starting the Green Trail from Poręba to Kamiennik and Kudłacze

To get to Poręba, you can drive by car (through Myślenice and Trzemeśnia). There is parking available near the church or you can take a bus – the bus stop is across from the school. When starting the hike, we need to go back a bit towards Trzemeśnia (sidewalk along the road). After a while, the green trail turns right, and we walk briefly through a meadow before entering the forest.

The Green Trail from Poręba to Kamiennik

The beginning of the trail is quite challenging, as it goes uphill for about 30-45 minutes. However, we will be in the shade the whole time, and soon we will enjoy a pleasant forest walk along the ridge.

The rocky outcrops and crevices forming small rock caves indicate that the arduous climb is coming to an end. We can imagine who might live in them: a fox, a wolf, or maybe a forest spirit?

The ridge is also covered with trees, but through the gaps, we can admire beautiful mountain views – both towards Myślenice and Dobczyce, as well as to the south. We were even able to catch a glimpse of the Tatras mountain range! Soon, the yellow trail will join our green trail, which means we will start descending towards Przełęcz Sucha and Sucha Polana:

When the ridge ends, we descend to Sucha Polana. Here, we will find a vast sunny meadow with a shelter, tables, benches, and a place for a bonfire. On a commemorative plaque, it is worth reading about the partisan units stationed here – 10 large rocks at the foot of Łysina are associated with them.

From Przełęcz Sucha and Sucha Polana to Kudłacze Shelter

To reach the Kudłacze Shelter from Sucha Polana, we can take two routes: the yellow trail (a more challenging trail passing through Łysina with a steep ascent!) and then turn right onto the red trail, or we can choose an easier and faster option by continuing on the green trail. This route also includes some uphill sections, but mainly it leads us on a flat path, and after about an hour, we will reach the shelter.

If we don't want to climb to the shelter, from Sucha Polana, we can also return to Poręba faster by choosing a wide forest road - marked with a black arrow. This is a wide forest road that can even be traversed with a large-wheeled stroller.

PTTK Shelter on Kudłacze Meadow

After about 1 hour, we will reach the PTTK Kudłacze Shelter from Przełęcz and Polana Sucha. It is a cozy place, perfect for families:

The bar serves simple dishes – we recommend pancakes and fritters! You can also order a "bonfire set" and grill sausages yourself. In front of the shelter, there are numerous benches and tables, a small playground, and in addition, chickens, ducks, and a view of the mountains! For a wider panorama, it is worth descending a few meters down the black trail towards Pcimia – here, the Tatra Mountains chain awaits us from the south, and the silhouette of Babia Góra dominates the area to the west.

Return from Kudłacze to Poręba

To avoid repeating the same route, you can return to Poręba by taking the red trail: it is shorter but mostly paved. It is a good choice if it is getting dark – here, we will definitely not get lost. It takes about 30-40 minutes to walk to the center of Poręba.
