Observation towers around Tarnów – ideas for a one-day trip
These modest structures, often set in the natural landscape, can show the region at its best. No wonder many have been built in recent years. Here is a list of the most interesting observation towers within several dozen kilometers of Tarnów (southern Poland):
1. Observation tower in Dąbrówka Szczepanowska – about 18 km (11 mi) from Tarnów
This is the closest observation tower to Tarnów. It is small but very scenic. Views include the bends of the Dunajec River, the Wiśnickie Foothills, and, in good weather, even the Tatra Mountains. The easiest way to reach it is by car; there is parking right next to the tower.

2. Observation tower on the summit of Brzanka – 30 km (19 mi) from Tarnów
Brzanka (534 m above sea level) is one of the highest peaks of the Ciężkowice Foothills near Tuchów. A nearby mountain hut has a large green area, barbecue spots, and hiking trails along the ridge. The Brzanka range is great for hiking and relaxing in nature. The tower is about 14 m tall, made of wood and metal. From the top you get wide views of the Foothills, the Low Beskids, and, in very clear weather, the Tatra Mountains.
You can reach the tower on foot via the yellow trail from Jodłówka Tuchowska or Ryglice, or drive; there is parking just below the tower.

3. Jamna – observation tower and mountain hut, 40 km (25 mi) from Tarnów
Jamna is a small village in the Ciężkowice–Rożnów Landscape Park, about 40 km from Tarnów. The local bacówka (mountain hut) with an observation tower is quite large: you will find quiet barbecue and campfire spots, picnic benches, viewing terraces, two playgrounds with a covered sandbox, and a treehouse. There is a tent camping area next to the hut. It is a popular family spot for locals from Tarnów and also works well for larger events.

4. Observation tower on Bocheniec hill near Brzesko – about 45 km (28 mi) from Tarnów
Near Brzesko, on Bocheniec hill (394 m above sea level) — its name refers to the shape of a loaf of bread — a striking 25 m observation tower has stood here since 2023. You can conveniently drive up to the tower. The hill also has historical value: a 9th/10th-century Slavic stronghold (the Vistulans) once stood here; remains include earth ramparts about 4 m high and 18 m long.

5. Observation tower in Bruśnik – about 50 km (31 mi) from Tarnów
Not far from Ciężkowice, about 6.5 km from the Stone City nature reserve (Skamieniałe Miasto). The tower is a steel structure with wooden finishing, about 23 m high, with five viewing decks. From the top you can see the Stone City in Ciężkowice, the Rożnów Foothills, and Lake Rożnów in the distance.

6. Observation tower on Szpilówka – about 48 km (30 mi) from Tarnów
Szpilówka (516 m above sea level) is a peak in the Wiśnickie Foothills. The tower attracts many hikers and can be reached by several paths; the shortest route starts in Iwkowa: about 4 km one way, around 1 hour 20 minutes.

7. Łysula – observation tower with a slide near Gorlice, about 63 km (39 mi) from Tarnów
The observation tower on Łysula is a new highlight of the Low Beskids. It mixes active outdoor fun with a surprise not only for kids — you can ride a spiral slide down from the top!
The summit of Łysula (551 m above sea level) is in the village of Dominikowice, about 8 km from the town of Gorlice. The tower is 32 m tall, with a viewing platform at 28 m. Opened in 2024, it quickly became a hit and a popular goal for family trips.

8. Ferdel – observation tower and the Beech Trail from Wapienne, about 67 km (42 mi) from Tarnów
Close to the tower on Łysula is its neighbor — the observation tower on Ferdel. From Łysula you can reach it via the green-marked trail in about 2.5 hours (8 km).
If you want to go directly to Ferdel, the easiest way starts in Wapienne — a tiny spa village near Gorlice. An extra attraction on the loop of trails is a creative educational path called the Beech Trail ("Ścieżka Buczynowa"), marked with a wide-open eye symbol.
