The lookout tower on Łysula is a new gem in the Low Beskids, perfect for active fun with a surprise not just for kids - you can slide down a twisty slide from the top!
The peak of Łysula (551 meters above sea level) is located in the village of Dominikowice, about 8 km from Gorlice. The tower is 32 meters tall, with the viewing platform at 28 meters. It opened in 2024 and has quickly become a hit and a popular family trip destination. No wonder - it has many advantages:
- entry to the tower is free
- two free parking lots about 1 km from the tower in Dominikowice
- the trail from the parking lot to the tower is short and easy. It's a wide, paved path, a bit rocky. It takes about 20 minutes to walk - perfect for a trip with kids. A stroller with big inflatable wheels can manage - although it's a bit uphill and not easy with a stroller.
- along the way, there's a large scenic clearing with benches to rest, and at the trail entrance, there's an ice cream shop with deck chairs
- the attraction is open all year, you can visit even after dark as the path to the tower is lit

Łysula - parking and walking trail on the green path
Reaching the tower is a peaceful walk. The easiest way is to start from Dominikowice, where there are two free parking lots – one closer and one a bit further, both with a paved road leading to the tower. The trail is just over a kilometer and can be done even with a stroller with inflatable wheels, though the path is a bit rocky and uphill, so keep in mind that it won't be a leisurely stroll.
The trail takes you through the forest, so in summer, you'll find coolness and plenty of shade.

Scenic clearing on the trail
Along the way, there's a large scenic clearing with benches. You can rest here and enjoy the views. It's a great spot for a picnic. There's also a fun attraction called the "giant's bench."

Climbing the tower
The tower is made of metal. Older visitors might miss having intermediate terraces to rest and catch their breath. You have to climb straight to the top using spiral stairs - especially with more people, this might not be comfortable for those with less stamina.

View from the tower terrace on Łysula
The terrace at the top of the tower is round and open. You get a 360-degree view. You can see the Low Beskids, Gorlice Depression, Ciężkowice Foothills, and on clear days, even the Tatra Mountains. Information boards on the terrace help identify distant peaks.

Slide on Łysula
What's the most fun and makes kids climb the tower several times? The slide! Yes, a spiral, twisty, 54-meter tube built into the tower. It's like a magnet – kids line up, and adults... often can't resist either. The ride is fast but safe - it starts steeply but slows down gently at the end for a smooth landing.
Outside the season, especially in winter, check if the slide is icy or if it's dry and safe.

Tower on Łysula... and what else?
The green trail passes through the top of Łysula, connecting Gorlice, Nowy Żmigród, Krempna, Ożenna, and the Slovak Keczkovce. From Gorlice, you can theoretically reach here in about 2 hours (8 km), but the route is mostly on asphalt roads. Walking to Łysula is more pleasant from Męcina Wielka (3.5 km, about 1.5 hours).
It's good to know that from Łysula, you can take the green trail in about 2.5 hours (8 km) to another lookout tower on the top of Ferdel (unfortunately, no slide here):
