A winter walk along the ridge between Stożek Wielki and Soszów in the Silesian Beskids is a great idea for those who want to enjoy the beautiful snowy mountain scenery and then warm up and relax in two cozy mountain huts.

How to Get to Soszów and Stożek Wielki?

To walk the scenic route between Stożek Wielki and Soszów, you first need to reach the ridge. You can choose one of many hiking trails from different parts of the Wisła valley, such as the red trail from Przełęcz Kubalonka, the green trail from Wisła Łabajów, the blue trail from PKP Wisła Głębce, the yellow trail from Wisła-Jurzyków, the blue trail from PKP Wisła Dziechcinki, the green trail from PKP Wisła Uzdrowisko, or the blue trail from Wisła-Jawornik.

In winter, it's much easier to use one of the chairlifts: either to Soszów or to Stożek.

From Stożek Wielki to Stożek Mały and Cieślarówka

From Stożek, we descend the red trail first on a wide (and scenic!) road, then on a rather steep path through the forest. Note: the green trail stays on the forest road, while the red signs, which we follow to Soszów, turn left!

Upon reaching the Stożek Mały settlement, we will have a bit of a climb. However, the road is comfortable, wide, and the slope is gentle.

Before reaching the top of Cieślar, you can stop at a private café and pastry shop at the Cieślarówka agritourism (open seasonally).

Cieślar, 918 m above sea level

Walk from Soszów to Stożek.. and Back?

In our article, we describe the route from Stożek Wielki to Soszów, but of course, you can also do it in the opposite direction (there will be more uphill climbs), or go there and back (the Stożek - Soszów - Stożek or Soszów - Stożek - Soszów route takes about 3 hours).

WARNING! When heading out on a mountain trail in winter, be sure to check the weather forecast (especially warnings, like strong winds), bring (and wear!) crampons, which will be useful on icy climbs, especially on paths worn smooth by skiers and sledders, and remember that it gets dark very early (it's good to have a flashlight in your backpack, preferably a headlamp).
