The Green Trail named after L. W臋grzynowicz from Rydza-艢mig艂ego Pass in Chysz贸wki is one of the most popular routes to Mogielica (1170 meters above sea level) - the highest peak of the Beskid Wyspowy mountain range. Along the way, we will encounter the incredibly scenic Polana Wy艣nik贸wka and a brand new observation tower at the summit.

The Green Trail to Mogielica - the start of the route

At Prze艂臋cz Rydza 艢mig艂ego in Chysz贸wki, there is a large parking lot and a PKS Chysz贸wki bus stop (buses from Jurk贸w). Additionally, there is a monument reminding us of the events from World War I and the patron of the pass. The gastronomic points here are only open seasonally, so it is better to bring provisions for the entire trip in advance.

After passing through a small grove, the trail leads through fields and crosses a hamlet with several houses (here, the road is asphalt for a while). Ahead of us, on the right, we can see the destination of our hike: the summit of Mogielica and the observation tower.

It is only after about 45 minutes from leaving the parking lot that the wide dirt road reaches the edge of the forest. This means that, in good weather, we will be in full sun the entire time - remember to cover your head!

In the forest, we will find more shade, but the climb will begin! Sometimes the path will ascend quite gently:

...other times, we will face a challenging ascent on steep, rocky gullies with loose stones:

Polana Wy艣nik贸wka beneath Mogielica

As a reward for completing the most difficult steep section, we can rest on the incredibly scenic Polana Wy艣nik贸wka. It is worth stopping here for a while and enjoying the extensive panoramas to the southwest (Tatra Mountains, Gorce Mountains, Babia G贸ra, Beskid Wyspowy) and to the east: Beskid Wyspowy, S膮decki, and in the background, Beskid Niski.

Zb贸jnicki St贸艂 (Robber's Table) on Mogielica

From Polana Wy艣nik贸wka, we have about 15-20 minutes of climbing left to reach the summit of Mogielica. It will be steep, but we will be climbing on larger, stable boulders instead of loose stones.

On the way, it is worth stopping at the distinctive rock on the left side of the trail (just after the junction with the blue trail from Jurk贸w). This rock formation is called "Zb贸jnicki St贸艂" (Bandits' Table) because, according to legend, it is where local bandits divided their loot.

Apparently, there are also mysterious caves and grottoes on the slopes of Mogielica where the bandits hid their stolen treasures. Look around carefully!

At the summit, there are several benches, a stamp box, and... a brand new observation tower!

From the viewpoint on the tower, wonderful views in all four directions unfold:

If, for various reasons, we do not climb the tower or if we feel like having a "picnic with a view," we can peek through the viewpoint facing east (at the base of the tower):

...or descend a bit further to a clearing with a papal cross (5 minutes further on the green trail towards Przehyba and Wyr臋biska):

Return from the summit of Mogielica

Return the same way (again, there will be a steep path with loose stones, but this time downhill...) or take the yellow trail towards Tymbark, which, although it covers the same elevation, does not have such steep sections. The yellow trail reaches the same road where Prze艂臋cz Rydza 艢mig艂ego is located, about 1.5 km east of the parking lot on the green trail. There is also a PKS bus stop near the descent of the yellow trail.
