Sarnia Skala is one of the easier hikes to the summit in the Tatra Mountains!
What's more, you can reach it directly from Zakopane, without the need for a bus or car. This trail is difficult for families with young children (total ascent of 430m), but school-aged kids should be able to handle it - it will be a real challenge for them, and the views from the rock are stunning! Of course, the mountain trip should be adjusted to the fitness level of our children, which is individual for each child. Before reaching the summit, there is a steep rocky threshold - it may be difficult to overcome, for example, for parents with a baby in a carrier.
How to get to Sarnia Skala?
You can reach it from the Strazyska Valley (red trail) or the Bialy Potok Valley (yellow trail). Both valleys start from Zakopane. We definitely recommend the Bialy Potok Valley, as in our opinion, it is much more beautiful and diverse in terms of landscape (bridges, streams, etc.). You can also go up one valley and come back through the other.
From both valleys, we reach the black trail - the Road above the Reglas, and head towards Czerwona Przelecz (1301m above sea level) - here we have a scenic meadow with benches. From here, it takes about 10 minutes for an adult to hike to Sarnia Skala.
Below the rock, there is a meadow with a resting place and a view of Giewont.
Ascending Sarnia Skala - a steep rocky threshold.
The summit of Sarnia Skala is spacious - you can rest and enjoy the views.
