The Naval Warfare Museum is located in a modern building right next to the City Beach in Gdynia. Part of the museum is also the ORP B艂yskawica ship-museum (combined or separate ticket).
Visiting the Naval Warfare Museum in Gdynia
The exhibition consists of a historical display inside the building and an outdoor exhibition in its courtyard.
Exhibits at the Naval Warfare Museum - what will we see?
The ground floor is an armory: equipment of Polish warships: cannons, torpedoes, rockets, mines, as well as mementos from sunken units.
On the first floor we will see a new, multimedia exhibition titled "We have an order to keep you" - about the struggle for access to the sea, the times of regaining independence, and the beginnings of the Polish navy.
The second floor features beautiful models of historical sailing ships: medieval and modern, Polish and European. Each of them has an interesting story behind it!
Children and the Naval Warfare Museum - attractions
The museum does not have special, designated stations for the youngest visitors. There is a playroom, but it was closed during our visit (due to sanitary regulations). The multimedia station, where you can become a machine gun shooter on the ORP B艂yskawica was also not excluded (for the same reason...)
However, it's always worth playing... find the mice!Museum mice are hidden in various corners of the exhibitions on the ground floor, 1st and 2nd floor. From the museum staff, you can get a special "list" of mice, where you mark the ones you found, and then receive a sticker reward.
Naval Warfare Museum - outdoor exhibition
A complement is the outdoor exhibition in the museum courtyard: old cannons, anti-aircraft guns, periscopes, ship screws, etc. The entrance to the outdoor exhibition is on the 1st floor of the museum, the exit directly to the seaside promenade.
