Gedymin Lookout Tower – trails and attractions
Gedymin Lookout Tower – views of Szczawno-Zdrój, Wałbrzych and the Sudetes
Gedymin Lookout Tower is an easily accessible viewpoint between Szczawno-Zdrój and Wałbrzych. There is no need to plan a long mountain hike: all it takes is a short walk through a park or forest to climb the modern tower and see the spa town, Wałbrzych and the surrounding ranges of the Sudetes from above.
The tower stands on Gedymin Hill, also known as Parkowa Mountain, at an elevation of approximately 532 m above sea level. It is a good place for a family walk, a quick trip from Wałbrzych or a pleasant addition to a stay in Szczawno-Zdrój.
No stairs
The lookout tower is reached not by traditional stairs, but by a spiral ramp, which makes the structure more accessible to people with different levels of physical fitness and allows visitors to reach the successive levels more comfortably.

Gedymin Tower – attractions
The main attraction is, of course, the tower itself. It is approximately 30 m high and stands out because the top is reached not by steep stairs, but by a comfortable spiral ramp. This makes the ascent relaxed and more like walking around the structure than a classic climb to a viewing platform.
Along the way, you can stop at a lower terrace, roughly level with the treetops. The main viewing platform is higher up, and it offers the most complete panorama.
The Pond on Gedymin Hill
Another pleasant place in the area is the Pond on Gedymin Hill, often simply called the little lake. It is a good spot for a relaxing break during a walk: there are benches, a partial view of the water and more space than on the trail itself. If you are coming from Szczawno-Zdrój, the descent to the pond can easily be incorporated into the route.
Concrete bunker
It is worth treating Gedymin Hill not only as a viewpoint, but also as a small walking area with several interesting features. Near the tower, you may spot a small concrete structure in the forest, commonly referred to as a bunker or shelter. It is more of a curiosity than a formally accessible tourist attraction, so it is best viewed from the outside and approached with caution.
The approach from Szczawno-Zdrój is also an attraction in its own right. The route begins in the spa district, by the mineral water pump room and Zdrojowy Park. Before entering the forest, you can stroll along the park avenues, visit the Walking Hall and admire the elegant spa architecture.
Szczawno-Zdrój – an elegant spa town
Szczawno-Zdrój is small, green and perfect for walking. It is a good choice if you want to combine a short walk to the tower with coffee, ice cream, a visit to the pump room or a leisurely stroll along Kościuszki Street among former villas and guesthouses.

What can you see from the tower on Gedymin Hill?
From the upper terrace, you can mainly see Szczawno-Zdrój, Wałbrzych and the Wałbrzych Mountains with the distinctive Chełmiec. In good weather, the panorama extends farther, towards the Stone Mountains, the Owl Mountains and even the Karkonosze Mountains.
The best time to come here is on a clear day, after rain or when the sun is low. Then the successive ridges of the Sudetes stretch out behind one another in layers, and the views are undoubtedly at their most beautiful.
