Mroźna Cave above Kościeliska Valley is the most popular cave open to tourists in the Polish Tatra Mountains. Note: currently, you need to bring your own flashlights to visit the cave!

Visiting Mroźna Cave - What You Need to Know?
- After renovations in 2023, the electric lighting was removed: you must have your own flashlights, preferably headlamps, because free hands will be very useful!
- It's not required, but it's recommended to have a helmet (due to tight passages and sharp rocks on the cave ceiling).
- The passages are very tight, sometimes you need to crawl or squeeze sideways. You can't pass through with a child in a carrier or backpack. Large backpacks might also be problematic.
- The cave is one-way - it's worth considering beforehand if you and your children are ready for such attractions, as you cannot turn back!
- Entrance is paid in cash (11 PLN), children under 7 enter for free. You can also buy a ticket online in advance (but not at the cave, as there is no internet coverage here).
- The cave has a temperature of about 6°C, it's very humid, there's cave "rain," and in some passages, there's standing water (the passages are over slippery metal walkways) - appropriate warm clothing and sturdy shoes are necessary!
- The cave is open from the end of April to the end of October, from 9 AM to 5 PM, with the last entry at 4:30 PM.

How to Get to Mroźna Cave?
A one-way black trail from Kościeliska Valley leads to Mroźna Cave. We describe the approach and descent from the cave in detail here:

Passing through the cave takes about half an hour and requires overcoming not only the tight passages and very low corridors mentioned above but also many steps - the height difference to overcome inside the cave is about 110 meters.

Cave Formations in Mroźna Cave
While passing through Mroźna Cave, it's worth paying attention to the cave formations. Although there aren't particularly impressive stalagmites and stalactites here, you can still spot some! Remember to respect this place (we are still in the Tatra National Park!) and don't touch or damage anything!

Can You Get Lost in Mroźna Cave?
We pass through Mroźna Cave on our own, without a guide. It's undeniable that besides the main corridor, there are side passages... Some are secured with barriers, but not all. In tricky and "non-obvious" places, the correct direction is indicated by red arrows.

...and here is the awaited exit from the cave! Now there's a descent of about 200 meters down to the valley floor (about 20-30 minutes down the stairs):

PS. If you like Tatra caves, we also recommend the Kraków Gorge - entrance from the same Kościeliska Valley:
