Bystrianska Cave in Slovakia is located at the foot of the Low Tatras, not far from the Polish border (about 130 km, or around 2.5 hours drive from Zakopane). It's a natural wonder full of beautiful calcite formations. Visiting Bystrianska Cave is like a trip to a fairy-tale land!

What will we see in Bystrianska Cave?
Bystrianska Cave is famous for its amazing formations: lots of stalactites, stalagmites, and more complex fairy-tale shapes.

The richness of nature's sculptures is best shown by the name of one of the halls: "The Treasury".
Importantly, these beautiful formations are not just in selected spots: the entire cave and all the nooks and crannies we explore while walking through long corridors are full of them!

The "flagship" sculpture is the symbol of the cave: "The Great Canopy" - let's take another look at it in all its glory:

Bystrianska Cave - attractions and interesting facts
Besides the beautiful formations, an additional attraction is the guide's stories - for example, about speleotherapy, which is healing stays in the cave, and about the tragic years of World War II.
It's a pity there's not enough time to calmly look at the various natural rock "sculptures." Besides the most famous ones the cave is proud of, you can see many others - equally interesting, like this "bird":

...or the rock "castle"

Like in many other caves, bats sleep here, but only here can we see them during winter hibernation! The cave is open for visits all year round - even in winter! (The staff says that small groups of tourists do not disturb the bats' sleep).
Visiting Bystrianska Cave - information and tickets

- Getting to Bystrianska Cave - by car (large parking lot) or by bus
- Walking to the cave from the parking lot takes about 10-15 minutes on an asphalt path
- In the ticket pavilion, you can also buy souvenirs, snacks, and drinks, and use the toilet
- Tickets are sold for specific times. Discounts for children (6-15 years) and seniors (60+), photography requires an additional fee
- Tour duration - about 45 minutes. Note! We will exit through a different exit (closer to the parking lot)
- The temperature in the cave is about 6-7 degrees Celsius, and the high humidity makes the cold feel even more biting than, for example, in the Dobsinska Ice Cave. Be sure to remember warm clothes, hats, gloves, and sturdy shoes (not sandals!) - the cave can be wet and slippery!
- There is no lower age limit for entering the cave, but keep in mind that there is almost 600 meters to walk in the dark and cold, and there is no turning back - not all little ones are ready for this...
