The Black Trail from Kościeliska Valley to Mroźna Cave is a one-way route. The hardest part is going through the cave itself. Note: After its renovation, the electric lighting was removed - you need to bring your own flashlights!

From Kościeliska Valley to Mroźna Cave
To reach Mroźna Cave, first, we need to walk about 2 km through Kościeliska Valley (about 30-40 minutes). At the valley entrance, there are paid parking lots and a bus stop (e.g., from Zakopane). Before entering the valley, you must buy a ticket to Tatra National Park. Remember, dogs are not allowed here.
A new feature at the entrance to Kościeliska Valley is the new TPN educational center: Tatra Earth Planet Archive - if you have time, it's worth visiting to learn how the Tatra Mountains were formed (and are still forming!).

The Black Trail to Mroźna Cave
After about 30-40 minutes of walking through the wide valley, our side, one-way trail to the cave begins. Right after crossing the bridge, we will start climbing uphill.

Before reaching the cave entrance, we need to overcome a height difference of about 120 meters - there are many "steps" ahead: stone and forest steps.

Passing through Mroźna Cave
We will also overcome a significant height difference (over 110 meters) inside the cave, where we will squeeze through narrow corridors, sometimes going down, sometimes climbing up. Read more about passing through the cave here:

Descent from Mroźna Cave to Kościeliska Valley
After exiting the cave, there is a small viewing terrace waiting for us... and a whole lot of steps down: we descend more than 200 meters down! It can be quite slippery after rain, but the views are beautiful! Returning to the valley will take about 20-30 minutes.
