The Tatra Earth Planet Archive is the newest educational center of the Tatra National Park, located in a modern underground building in Kościelisko Kiry, right at the entrance to the Kościeliska Valley. Here, you can see how the Tatra Mountains were formed and what processes continue to shape their unique landscape.

What will we see at the Tatra Earth Planet Archive?
The creators of the Tatra Earth Planet Archive take us on a journey through time to show us the ancient history of the Tatra Mountains: from prehistory, mountain-building movements, the time of dinosaurs, through the ice age to the present day.
A narrator guides us through each room, explaining what we see, how to use each exhibit, "directing traffic," but always leaving 3-4 minutes at the end for us to explore the room on our own.

The first rooms are mainly about geology: geological processes, the formation of rocks, geological faults, and thrust sheets. It's true that for the average visitor (not just kids!), these are challenging topics, full of terminology and difficult words... To make it more interesting, there are films, animations, multimedia screens, and moving models:

Dinosaurs in the Tatras?
Kids will definitely be interested in the room with dinosaurs:

...and meeting a cave bear in the room about the ice age:

Modern Tatras and changes in the landscape caused by water, cave formations, and rockslides. In this part of the exhibition, kids will surely enjoy the game with a bat flying through a cave. Unfortunately, there are only two screens for the game, and playtime is limited. We have only a few minutes - then the lights go out, and the narrator leads us to the next room.

At the end, we will see interesting archaeological finds from the Podhale region - including the famous boomerang from Obłazowa Cave near Białka (the oldest boomerang in the world, dated to about 23,000 BC).
