Sopotnia Wielka is famous for having the highest waterfall in the Beskids (you can find it in the town center). But this is not the only rocky threshold on this picturesque mountain stream! A walk through the Sopotnia Wielka Valley, which is accessible via a comfortable forest road, is a real "waterfall trail"!
Starting the walk through the Sopotnia Wielka Valley
You can start the walk through the Sopotnia Wielka Valley at any point, for example, at the famous highest waterfall, which is up to 10 m high! If you don't want to walk along a road with car traffic, you can drive up to the edge of the forest. Here, a large, free parking area awaits on the side of the road, and entry to the further part of the route is only allowed for forest and rescue services.
Sopotnia Wielka Valley - waterfall trail
Undoubtedly, the biggest attraction of the valley is the swift mountain stream full of smaller and larger rocky thresholds, into which side streams constantly flow. They often create picturesque mini-waterfalls.
A big plus of the route is its accessibility for everyone. The wide comfortable asphalt road closed to car traffic means that we can easily go for a walk with a baby stroller, bike or scooter as well as people with limited mobility.
A minor downside might be the lack of organized resting places (benches, shelters). This issue needs to be "handled" independently, i.e., bring a blanket or picnic mat.
Blue trail in the Sopotnia Wielka Valley
At the beginning of the route, we are accompanied by signs of the blue trail, which leads to the scenic peak of Rysianka with a charming mountain hut. After a while, the signs turn right, onto a steep and narrow forest path "cutting" a wide bend of the forest road.
You can continue your walk in the valley as long as the conditions and your strength allow. Return to the trail entry is via the same route.
PS. And if you still feel like going further following the blue signs, here you will find a description of the entire trail to Rysianka from the Sopotnia Wielka Valley:
