Starting point: the town of Sromowce Niżne – you can reach it from Szczawnica by bike on the Pieniny Road, by car (free parking near the church or paid at the entrance to the trail), or by bus. The Yellow Trail starts in Sromowce Niżne near the rafting marina.
Sopczański Gorge for Children
This beautiful, rocky gorge with steep walls is perfect for a family trip. The trail along the bottom of the gorge is gentle, wide, and easy to walk, even for young hikers. The Sopczański Stream flows here, where you can throw stones, play, and wade. The trail leads through the gorge between almost vertical rocks – one of them is associated with a legend about a poor widow. The stream winds along the path, sometimes disappearing into rocky crevices, sometimes flowing right on the path – be prepared to hop on stones across the water.
Approaching Szopka Pass
Halfway through the trail, it enters the forest – here begins a fairly steep section of the route. Initially, the trail ascends more gently...
...but quickly becomes steeper – to reach the pass, you have to climb several dozen steps in the woods.
Szopka Pass
At Szopka Pass (779 meters above sea level), a scenic meadow and benches await. There is a junction of trails here – from this point, we can head to Trzy Korony, Góra Zamkowa (associated with the legend of St. Kinga), or descend to Krościenko.
