Route to Murowaniec Shelter

To reach Murowaniec Shelter, you can take a route from Kuźnice, a district of Zakopane located about 5 km from the city center - you can take a bus from the center. The trail starts at the lower station of the cable car to Kasprowy Wierch - we follow the green or yellow trail, which leads us to Murowaniec Shelter and to Czarny Staw Gąsienicowy (Black Pond).

From Murowaniec Shelter to Karb Pass

There are two trails leading from the shelter to Karb Pass - yellow and blue. Therefore, you can make a loop by taking one trail and returning on the other. We recommend taking the blue trail uphill and the yellow trail downhill, as the blue trail is slightly steeper.

Karb Pass

The ascent to Karb Pass is steep and requires a good level of fitness. However, the route itself is not technically difficult and does not involve any chains, especially in good weather. We walk on fairly large stones at times. People with a fear of heights may feel uncomfortable, and we have encountered individuals who were scared and turned back. We recommend this route for older children who have already experienced their first mountain hikes.

Kościelec

Karb Pass is the starting point for the trail to Kościelec, so we have a view of its summit from here. However, we still have a long way to go for such expeditions. The view of the trail itself gives us a proper dose of adrenaline :) We choose a much safer route towards the shelter, following the yellow trail.
