From Kuźnice to Czarny Staw Gąsienicowy through the Murowaniec Shelter
Nearby: Zakopanewarning No dogs allowed
Czarny Staw Gąsienicowy is a glacial lake in the High Tatras. The trail leading to it does not pose major technical difficulties, only physical endurance. Therefore, the route is perfect for a family hike with older children. Along the way, we pass by the Murowaniec shelter, where we can rest and have a warm meal.
Starting point of the trail to Czarny Staw Gąsienicowy in Kuźnice
The entrance to the yellow trail leading to Hala Gąsienicowa is located in Kuźnice, about 3.5 km from the center of Zakopane, near the lower station of the cable car to Kasprowy Wierch. Private cars are not allowed in Kuźnice. If you prefer to save energy and time, regular buses operate from the center of Zakopane or J.Pawła II Roundabout to Kuźnice.
Yellow trail through Dolina Jaworzynki
The initial part of the trail runs through the picturesque Dolina Jaworzynki. It is a rocky path, but fairly level (as can be seen in the pictures).
Then, we switch from the yellow trail to the blue trail, which leads us to the Murowaniec Shelter. From the shelter, there is another 40 minutes of walking and a 150m ascent to reach Czarny Staw Gąsienicowy.
Karb Pass
For older hikers and those without a fear of heights, we recommend making a loop and returning to the shelter via Karb Pass. Although the ascent is very steep, there are no extremely dangerous sections or chains.
