Start of the trail - Żarki town
Żarki is a town in the Silesian province, located among the picturesque landscapes of the Krakow-Częstochowa Upland. While in Żarki, it's worth paying attention to the historic barns. The town was densely built and there was no longer room for household barns and granaries, so they were built on the outskirts of Żarki. Where the barns stand, a market takes place every Saturday and Wednesday.
The bike path through the Mirowski Inn starts at Targowa Street.
Mirowski Inn
The new asphalt bike path connecting Żarki with Mirow was created on the old route called the Royal Route - it was a former dirt road used by local farmers to travel from Mirow to the markets in Żarki. Merchant caravans and gypsy camps used to travel this way. Currently, it's a paradise for cyclists - there are several covered rest huts along the route with information boards. We ride surrounded by picturesque fields and pine groves, passing single limestone rock formations in the distance.
The route is safe, very picturesque - it mainly leads in the sun.
We enter Mirow
The Mirowski Inn ends right at the entrance to the town of Mirow - from here to the castle we have about 0.5 kilometers left to overcome: either by a rural public road with very low traffic, or simply by the sidewalk which starts at the end of the bike path and goes all the way to the castle.
At the parking lot in Mirow, we can leave our bikes, and between the castles, we can walk along a charming trail among the rocks.

What are the 'Eagles' Nests'?
The castles in Mirow and Bobolice are castles belonging to the 'Eagles' Nests', it is a system of medieval brick fortresses, which was usually built on the site of wooden strongholds and was to defend the borders of the Kingdom of Poland and trade routes. The castles were built during the reign of King Casimir the Great, who was often their founder - after all, from school benches we know the famous saying about him 'he found Poland wooden, and left it bricked'. Interestingly, the funds for the brick expansion mainly came from the then salt mines in Wieliczka and Bochnia, then called żupy. Salt was then a luxury item and more valuable than gold, and the income from salt mining constituted 1/3 of the treasury of the entire Kingdom of Poland!
