Blue trail to Samotnia Shelter with children
This paved transport road "Na Śnieżkę" is a very popular trail for family trips with children, and it's no wonder - the route, although rocky, is quite gentle and offers beautiful views. Delivery trucks also use this road to reach the shelter. We reach the beautifully located shelter and the Small Pond, where you can eat and rest.
Starting point - Wang Temple
We start the trail at Wang Temple in Karpacz. Here, we will come across the blue trail leading to Samotnia Shelter and the Small Pond. The trail gradually ascends along a stone path. In some places, it is wide and comfortable for children to walk on, with a paved path. However, there are sections where it becomes narrow, and the stones are large and uneven. The trail is definitely not suitable for strollers!
In the Sun and in the Shade
The trail offers a lot of variety. Some sections are heavily exposed to the sun, while others pass through coniferous forests and dwarf pine. Along the way, we pass many wooden bridges and platforms. The trail offers beautiful views and landscapes. A particularly interesting section is the steep walls of Mały Kocioł (Small Cauldron) - here, the stones on the path are uneven, requiring extra caution when hiking with children.
Small Pond and Samotnia Shelter
Located in the Mały Staw (Small Pond) cirque, Samotnia Shelter is one of the oldest shelters in Poland! Initially, it was a small wooden hut inhabited by a guardian who looked after the trout bred in the Small Pond. It was also supposedly a mountain hut inhabited by goat herders. At the shelter, we can rest, have a warm meal, and enjoy the breathtaking views.
