The origins of Samotnia Shelter are connected with fish - about 400 years ago, there was a house here for a guard who watched over the fish in Pstrągowy Staw (the former name of Mały Staw).
The shelter has been operating here for about 100 years - it was then that the picturesque bell tower was built, which, in case of bad weather, showed tourists the way to the shelter.

How to get to Mały Staw and Samotnia Shelter?
To reach Samotnia Shelter and Mały Staw, you can take the blue trail: either from the upper part of Karpacz and the main road to Śnieżka, or "from above" from Strzecha Akademicka Shelter (15 minutes).

If you have the opportunity, also hike along the ridge - preferably through Spalona Strażnica, using the blue and red trails.
