Śnieżka

It is the highest peak in Karkonosze, towering over Karpacz. A characteristic feature of Śnieżka is the fog, which occurs here for about 300 days a year! The climate on Śnieżka resembles the conditions in the polar circle region. Hurricane winds are frequent here, and the average annual temperature is less than 1 degree Celsius. At the top of Śnieżka, you will find the Meteorological Observatory, a shelter, and the chapel of St. Warzyńca - the patron saint of mountain guides. An interesting figure associated with Śnieżka is a postman from Karkonosze, who for 37 years delivered mail from Śnieżka, reaching the summit every day regardless of the conditions and weather. You will definitely be able to reach it too - in the article below, you will find descriptions of trails leading to this extraordinary peak.

Easy trails in Karkonosze for younger children

Karkonosze is a great choice for first mountain hikes. You will find many easy trails here, often leading through the forest, in the shade of trees, to waterfalls and viewpoints. Their peaks are not rocky and pointed - once we reach a certain height (which can be done, for example, by a cable car), we can walk along long trails - gentle, wide, scenic paths. We just have to take into account that the temperature at these altitudes is lower, so even in summer, pack a windproof jacket, a scarf, or a light hat in your backpack.
