Chojnik Castle is a picturesque fortress in the Karkonosze Mountains, near Jelenia Góra. The history of the castle dates back to the mid-14th century. This impressive residence on top of a rocky hill fell into ruins after a fire in the late 17th century. Today, it is one of the main tourist attractions in the region and a must-visit for castle, history, and legend enthusiasts, as well as those who love mountain panoramas and walks along forest paths.
Chojnik Castle - Attractions and Sightseeing
The individual elements of the medieval castle ruins are well described on informational boards. Additionally, you can listen to recordings about the history of the fortress and its owners in the courtyard - it's a great place to start your adventure of exploring the castle.
Inter-wall passage - passing through the passages between the castle walls is a super adventure! You will have to squeeze through narrow passages (it might be difficult with a backpack carrier). From the inter-wall passage, you can enjoy beautiful views from the walls of the surrounding area.
Observation Tower at Chojnik Castle
An even more beautiful view than from the inter-wall passage can be seen from the observation tower. From here, you can see the entire Karkonosze range: from Śnieżka to Szrenica and beyond!
Cisterns
Can you find them on the castle grounds? There were no wells within the fortress, so rainwater was collected in special cisterns (you can see their remains).

In the courtyard, besides the pillory (reportedly from 1410), you will surely notice the beautiful giant ivy:
Personally, what enchanted me the most were the chamomiles blooming in every corner of the ruins:
