The Yellow Trail from Nowy Targ to Turbacz is one of the easiest routes to the highest peak of the Gorc Mountains. It mostly leads through the forest on wide, well-maintained paths without steep ascents. Along the way, there are several viewpoints and the famous chapel at Rusnak贸wka.

The Yellow Trail to Turbacz from Nowy Targ

Getting there: Take the train to Nowy Targ, then the local bus to the Kowaniec housing estate, or drive by car (unfortunately, there is no designated parking. A larger and convenient parking area is available near the green trail, next to the D艂uga Polana ski resort).

Initially, the trail leads us uphill on an asphalt road through the Olesk贸wka housing estate. After about 20-30 minutes, we will enter the forest.

The initial climb through the forest is also steep, but not too long:

Soon, we will reach a meadow with a view of the Tatra Mountains - a good place to take a break during the hike! More similar panoramas await us just before reaching the summit of Turbacz.

Overall, the trail is very diverse: short steep ascents alternate with flat, wide paths along the edge of the forest (here, we may even walk slightly downhill).

The Yellow Trail - Bukowina Miejska

After leaving the forest, we come across a wide road - the ridge of Bukowina Miejska. Our yellow trail merges here with the black trail coming from Klikuszowa. A small chapel dedicated to St. Hubert at the trail intersection was built by the local hunting association.

From Miejski Wierch to the intersection at Wisielak贸wka, we walk on a "mountain highway":

Unfortunately, the road is open to residents, field owners, and summer cottage owners, so we may encounter cars and off-road vehicles, and in some places, it can be quite worn out:

The views from here are limited by the surrounding forest. We can only see the neighboring ridges of Turbacz: 艢redni Wierch and Solniska:

The Chapel at Rusnak贸wka on the Yellow Trail to Turbacz

Not far before the summit, we pass by a chapel with a very interesting history dating back to the times of the partisans. Holy masses are held here on Saturdays and Sundays from May to October, and a big celebration takes place here in August: the Holy Mass of Mountain People (second Sunday of August).

Wisielak贸wka Meadow and D艂ugie M艂aki

Soon, we reach Wisielak贸wka meadow with a beautiful view of the Tatra Mountains, Pieniny Mountains, and Lake Czorsztyn. Here, our yellow trail merges with the blue and green trails.

Before the final section of the trail, we can have a snack at the seasonal mini-bar.

...and here is the view in the opposite direction, towards the Tatra Mountains:

Before reaching the mountain hut and the summit of Turbacz, we pass by an impressive cross - a monument dedicated to the Gorc partisans:

NOTE! Just before the mountain hut, the road splits: poorly marked trails lead to the left, steep uphill. However, we can also go to the right: a longer, but wider and gentler access road to the mountain hut.

Yellow or Green Trail to Turbacz from Nowy Targ?

Compared to the green trail, the yellow trail - despite the initial asphalt section - is less sunny but also less scenic... It may be slightly longer, but easier (with fewer steep ascents).

NOTE! Both trails do not enter the boundaries of the Gorcza艅ski National Park - you can bring your dog on the mountain hike.
