The PTTK Mountain Shelter near Jaworzyna Krynicka, named after J. Pi艂sudski, is located at an altitude of 1050 meters above sea level. It is a peaceful and atmospheric place where you can take a break from the hustle and bustle of the commercialized summit of Jaworzyna Krynicka.

The shelter offers approximately 50 accommodation places, delicious simple meals at the buffet, sweets, drinks, and souvenirs. There are also facilities for the youngest guests, such as highchairs and a corner with a changing table.

Of course, you can also reach the shelter on foot! There are several trails leading here from Krynica Zdr贸j (green, red, or blue + red), as well as from Muszyna (green from Muszyna Z艂ockie: 6.5 km, less than 3 hours one way) and from Szczawnik (black + red, 7 km, 3 hours).

PTTK Shelter near Jaworzyna Krynicka - interesting facts

Did you know that the history of the PTTK Shelter near Jaworzyna Krynicka is almost 100 years old?

  • The first shelter was built here in 1937.
  • The most famous guests of the pre-war shelter were Jan Kiepura, Princess Juliana - the future queen of the Netherlands, and pilots from the School of Eaglets.
  • The shelter burned down during World War II and was rebuilt in 1960.
  • The shelter houses the Center for Mountain Tourism and Culture with museum exhibitions - unfortunately, the exhibition is currently not accessible to visitors.
  • The shelter is named after J贸zef Pi艂sudski, but why? Apparently, the marshal visited the summit of Jaworzyna Krynicka and supposedly planted a linden tree near the current location of the shelter. The linden tree did not survive - today, there is a place dedicated to Pope John Paul II in that spot.
