Pieniny Museum - what can we see at the exhibition?

The entire permanent exhibition of the Pieniny Museum is located on the ground floor of a small building - a former border guard post. Here, we 'float down the Dunajec' to explore the history and traditions of Pieniny:

In the various 'corners' of the exhibition, we will see the patron saint of Pieniny: St. Kinga, the castles of Pieniny, religious treasures: Catholic and Orthodox, traditional folk costumes of Pieniny inhabitants: Pieniny and Ruthenian highlanders. We will peek inside a Pieniny cottage and a highlander's shepherd's hut. We will learn interesting facts about the famous Dunajec river rafting and the history of the Szczawnica health resort.

Pieniny Museum for children

We highly recommend visiting the Pieniny Museum for families with children!

At the small exhibition, everyone will surely find something for themselves. Children will definitely like the big 'balance bike' and the funny drawings on the Szalay coats of arms in Szczawnica. In the shepherd's hut, be sure to look for the spiked dog collar, which protected it from wolf attacks!

In the part of the exhibition dedicated to the history of the Szczawnica health resort, children will see an old photographic studio and a 'bathtub' and chamber pot in the patient's room.

Garden at the Pieniny Museum

After visiting the exhibition, be sure to visit the extensive garden at the museum! Besides a playground and benches, you will find 'mini' craftsmen's houses marked with the Szalay coats of arms known from the museum. Interestingly, we can enter the houses, each of them contains something interesting!
