Trails from Zwierzyniec

Roztocze is primarily a place of contact with nature - including virgin forests. And indeed - there are countless forest paths here. Sometimes we pass wet, marshy areas - so remember to bring something for mosquitoes! The most popular of the bike trails is Velo Florianka, which leads from Stawy Echo to Floriantka - a former settlement, now a Forest Chamber, where the Polish Konik horse breeding is located.

Kayaking on the Wieprz river

It was in Zwierzyniec that we first went kayaking - and you know what? It was awesome! The Wieprz river is perfect for such amateurs - we chose its section between the town of Obrocz flowing into Zwierzyniec at Rudka Reservoir. This part of the 'Wieprz' is winding and meandering, but also shallow and quite lazy, so we felt safe. You can read more about our adventure and the details of such a kayaking trip in the article below:

Zamość

The train station in Zwierzyniec offers the opportunity to visit other nearby towns as well. Among them is Zamość, located about 30 km from Roztocze, with a unique old town listed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. Zamość, as the name suggests, was founded by Jan Zamoyski and it was his private city-fortress. Its layout referred to Italian urban theory, hence it was often referred to as the 'Padua of the North' in the times of the First Polish Republic.
