Mount Cergowa, 716 m above sea level, rises above Dukla and is often called the "Giewont of the Beskids". A yellow walking trail leads from the town center to the summit. On the way, you pass the legendary Golden Well of St. John of Dukla and the scenic "Millennium Nature Reserve on Cergowa Mountain".
From Dukla to Mount Cergowa
Because of the construction of the S-19 expressway, the old route of the walking trail was changed in July 2025. The trail now follows an asphalt road for 3 km, from Dukla to Jasionka. The old trail marks from the Zakuczyna and Ciułówka housing areas have been painted over, and construction work will probably start there soon.
Only near the bus stop in Jasionka does the trail turn onto a dirt road. After another kilometer, it reaches the edge of the forest. If possible, it is much more comfortable to cover this over 4 km section by car, especially because there are forest parking areas at the edge of the woods.
Way of the Joys and Sorrows of the Mother of God
From the parking area to the Golden Well, you pass 7 stations of the Way of the Joys and Sorrows of the Mother of God. They are large stone boulders with metal plaques.
The section from the parking area to the Golden Well, about 1 km long, is an easy forest road. It is suitable even for strollers and people with limited mobility:
Millennium Nature Reserve on Cergowa Mountain
Before you reach the Golden Well, you enter the Millennium Nature Reserve on Cergowa Mountain. It protects old beech forests and many protected plant species. Right next to the path, you can also see small forest ponds, which are home to amphibians and reptiles.

After about 20 minutes from entering the forest, you reach the place called the Golden Well. It is a quiet place connected with local tradition and the cult of St. John of Dukla. You can take water from the spring and rest on many benches, which is a good idea because the hardest part of the trail is still ahead!

From the Golden Well to the summit of Mount Cergowa
The climb from the Golden Well to the ridge of Mount Cergowa is short but demanding. This part of the trail is very steep and follows a worn dirt path. In winter or during rain, it can be quite dangerous.
After you reach the ridge, the path becomes a little flatter, but there is still some climbing left before the summit.

The summit of Mount Cergowa is covered with forest. Luckily, there is a viewing tower, and from its platform you can enjoy beautiful views of the nearby Beskid mountain ranges.
