Zlota Studzienka, or the "Golden Well", is a quiet place in the forest on the slopes of Mount Cergowa near the town of Dukla in south-eastern Poland. According to local tradition, this was the site of the first hermitage of Saint John of Dukla. Today, it is often visited by local people, tourists, and pilgrims.

According to local tradition, this is the place where Saint John of Dukla (1414-1484) was called to serve God. Here he found peace and a place for prayer. However, the site was quite close to local homes, so people often came to visit him. Because of this, he later moved his hermitage a little farther away, to Zaspit Hill in Trzciana.
How to get to Zlota Studzienka below Mount Cergowa
A yellow walking trail leads to Zlota Studzienka from the center of Dukla. To avoid a long walk on an asphalt road of about 3 km and then a gravel field road of about 1 km, you can drive to the edge of the forest. There is a small forest parking area there. From that point, you only need to walk about 1 km, around 20 minutes, on an easy forest path. It is also possible to manage this route with a stroller.

Masses and religious services at Zlota Studzienka in Dukla
Every year, on the third Sunday of July, a special indulgence Mass is held here, with a blessing for children.
On New Year's Eve, a New Year Mass is organized here. Since 2006, a Mass has also been celebrated on the top of Mount Cergowa on the anniversary of the death of Pope John Paul II. According to the information board near the first station of the Way of the Joys and Sorrows of the Mother of God, Masses are also held here on the last Saturday of April for students taking their final school exams, on the first Saturday of the summer holidays for children and young people, on the last Saturday of September for university students, and on various holidays, including the Sunday before 15 August and 11 November.
Zlota Studzienka and Mount Cergowa - things to see
Zlota Studzienka is located in the Tysiaclecia Nature Reserve on Mount Cergowa. Take time to notice the wild nature around this place: old beech forest and rare protected plants. It is especially beautiful in May, when large areas of perennial honesty flowers are in bloom. Because this is a protected nature reserve, please stay on the marked trail, do not damage plants, do not disturb animals, and it is better not to bring dogs here.
When visiting Zlota Studzienka, it is worth climbing to the top of Mount Cergowa. From the viewing tower, you can enjoy a wide panorama of the surrounding area.

Cergowa near Dukla, 716 m above sea level, is not the highest peak in the Low Beskids, but it is one of the most recognizable. P.S. It is also worth knowing that there are more special springs connected with Saint John of Dukla. Apart from Zlota Studzienka, there are also "John's springs" in places such as Piotrus, Kombornia or Wola Komborska, and "Na Puszczy" in Trzciana on Zaspit Hill. The relics of the saint are kept in Dukla, in the Sanctuary of Saint John of Dukla at the Bernardine monastery.
