The most popular trail to Szczeliniec Wielki starts from Kar艂贸w - you will find many paid parking lots there. However, if you want to park your car for free, you can enter Szczeliniec Wielki from the town of Pasterka - the trail is shorter but steeper, without any artificial aids such as stairs or handrails.
Advantages of the trail from the town of Pasterka:
- The shortest trail to Szczeliniec Wielki
- Free parking
- The trail is steep but very interesting, great for children who like climbing
Disadvantages:
- The parking lot is very small, maximum 10 cars, so you need to arrive early in the morning to secure a spot
- There is a warning on the shelter's website not to leave your car here overnight, so it is not an option for those staying at the shelter on Szczeliniec

The easiest way to get here is by car. Portable toilets are set up at the parking lot, and there is a sign stating that it is the last free toilet. There is also a fee for using the toilet at the shelter for guests!
Steep ascent
The entire trail is rocky. The first 500m involves gaining altitude by zigzagging between rocks and trees. It was a lot of fun and enjoyable, but it also significantly raised our heart rate.
After reaching a considerable height, we will come to a junction of trails and turn from the yellow trail onto the green tourist route named after Franciszek Pabla. Steep rocks will be replaced by wooden walkways, rocky passages, and numerous viewpoints.
Shelter on Szczeliniec Wielki
Located at an altitude of 919 meters above sea level, just below the summit of Szczeliniec, this shelter is one of two in Poland that can only be reached on foot. It is located at an altitude of 905 meters above sea level. There is a viewpoint in front of the shelter, offering a panoramic view of the surroundings and nearby mountains.

At the top of Szczeliniec, there is a Rocky Labyrinth, for which a tourist route has been marked. The trail is paid, and the ticket booths are located just behind the shelter. You can find a more detailed description of this section in the article:
