Szczawnica Sokolica - Crossing the Dunajec River
The trail to Sokolica starts at the flisacka landing in Szczawnica, initially following the Pieniny Road before crossing to the other side of the Dunajec River. There is no bridge here, but during the SEASON, there is a ferry crossing with a boat - raft that transports people from one riverbank to the other.
Crossing Hours for the Other Side of Dunajec:
- from April 15th to June 30th: 8:00 AM - 7:00 PM
- during summer from 8:00 AM - 8:00 PM
- in September from 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM
- in October from 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
- from the beginning of November to mid-April, the crossing is closed (November 1st, 2023 to April 14th, 2024)

Trail to Sokolica
When heading to Sokolica, it is worth checking if we have cash in our pocket - at the top, there is an entrance fee to the Pieniny National Park. The ascent to Sokolica is steep and tiring. Initially, we gain altitude through switchbacks and wooden steps. Near the summit, there is a 10-minute climb over slippery rocks - so we should wear ankle-protecting hiking boots on the trail!

This is one of the most beautiful and recognizable peaks in the Pieniny Mountains, reaching a height of 747 meters. Its rocky summit proudly overlooks the Dunajec Gorge. The summit offers breathtaking views - a beautiful panorama unfolds, with the golden, winding ribbon of the Dunajec River below.
