The Fastest and Easiest Trail to Babia Góra (Babia Mountain)
...and this is due to the smallest difference in elevation to overcome. There and back, we can "tick off" the highest peak of the Beskids in less than 4 hours.
The downside is the crowded paid parking at Przełęcz Krowiarki (Lipnicka). During the season and on weekends, you have to arrive early in the morning to find a spot. Also, on the trail itself, we will often walk in a queue-like fashion towards Morskie Oko.
Climbing Sokolica
The first section of the red trail to Babia Góra does not give us a break: it's an almost hour-long climb on a steep, rocky path, unfortunately - still without any views. It's worth distributing our energy properly, taking short breaks frequently, so that we have enough strength and enthusiasm (especially for the youngest) to reach the end of the trail.
Sokolica - a viewpoint
The first peak conquered! It's time to rest - and if we're not in fog: a beautiful view of the ridge that we will soon be walking along.
From Sokolica to Kępa
We cover the next section in about 15-20 minutes. It may not be as steep anymore, but soon we will see how much we have ascended since the previous stop.
Hiking along the Babia Góra Ridge
Hiking along the ridge has many advantages: we already know that the most challenging sections are behind us, we are surrounded by beautiful views, and the destination is getting closer with every step!
Gówniak
Well, it may not have the most beautiful name, but picturesque rock formations make it easier to take scenic souvenir photos here than at the summit of Babia Góra, where you might have accidental companions in your shots.
Babia Góra Summit
The highest peak of the Beskids, Królowa - Kapryśnica, conquered! Variable weather at the summit is practically a tradition...
If you encounter clouds and fog, wait - sometimes a few minutes of patience can work wonders!
Attention! It's always windy on Babia Góra - it's worth bringing jackets and hats!
Return from the Babia Góra Summit
If time is of the essence, you can return to Krowiarki via the same trail (about 1.5 hours).
If not, it's worth enjoying the views a little longer and descending to Przełęcz Brona, resting at the PTTK Markowe Szczawiny shelter, and then returning to the parking lot via the blue trail (3 hours).
