Ruins of Tenczyn Castle in Rudno
Along the route, there are ruins of Tenczyn Castle in Rudno - it is better to leave bicycles in the parking lot, as the approach to the castle is quite steep. The ruins have been renovated and made available for sightseeing. Interestingly, this area was very volcanically active in ancient times - there were active volcanoes and cracks in the earth's crust near Krakow and Lower Silesia, from which boiling lava seeped. The Tenczyn Castle was built on one of the hills formed by the flowing lava! Agates - colorful minerals - can be found in the local volcanic rocks. Next to the castle, there is the Agate Museum in Rudno - the collection gathered there was assembled by a local enthusiast who found them in the surrounding fields and rock debris.
