Guba艂贸wka is the most popular peak located closest to the center of Zakopane, offering a beautiful panorama of the Tatra Mountains. You can reach it by cable car, but is it worth conquering it on your own?

The shortest trail to Guba艂贸wka is the black trail along the cable car - until recently, this route was controversial and subject to a fee due to land disputes. Currently, the cable car company has moved the fence and marked a new trail, which is now free for tourists.

  • The trail starts near the lower station of the cable car on Guba艂贸wka, at the end of Krup贸wki street.
  • The estimated time to complete the trail is about 50 minutes.
  • The end of the trail can be steep.

At the beginning, the rocky path gently ascends. From time to time, the view of Giewont and the valleys leading to its massive form - Str膮偶yska Valley and Bia艂y Potok - emerges from behind the trees.

On the right side, there is a fence through which passing cable car wagons can be seen. Children climbing up can count how many wagons pass by during that time. Approximately halfway along the trail, there is a concrete bridge where we can stand above the passing wagons, not far from the point where both wagons - the one going up and the one going down - meet.

The higher you go, the steeper the trail becomes - going up is manageable, but going down may be challenging, especially after rain when the stones can be slippery.

This peak towers over the town of Zakopane, offering a beautiful panorama of the Tatra Mountains! Guba艂贸wka itself is located outside the Tatra Mountains and the area of the Tatra National Park, so there is no entrance fee to the park, and you can also take a walk with your dog. At the top of Guba艂贸wka, you will find many observation terraces, cafes, restaurants, and stalls. Sometimes, you can come across herds of sheep grazing here.
