Start of the trail to Lackowa in Izby

Izby is a small village by the Bia艂a River in the western part of the Low Beskids. This is where the popular route to the top of Lackowa begins. You can leave your car either by the church in the village center, by the shop, or right before the entrance to the dirt road, in a bay near the horse stable.

In Izby, head south, first on the asphalt road, and then, at the height of the pastures belonging to the stable, on a wide dirt path.

Red trail to Lackowa and the "wall of tears"

Initially, the red trail ascends gently, but after about 30 minutes of hiking, it becomes really steep. Ahead is the famous wall of tears. The trail here goes up a slope with an incline of nearly 30 degrees - supposedly the steepest trail in the Polish mountains outside the Tatras.

What else to know about the wall of tears on Lackowa?

The wall is steep but fortunately short: you probably won't even have time to cry before you reach the top! It won't be easy after rain, in slippery mud, or during late autumn and winter frosts. It will definitely be easier to climb up than to descend! For descending from Lackowa to Izby, we recommend going through the Pu艂aski Pass and Bieliczna (without a trail), or the yellow trail through Ostry Wierch and Bia艂a Ska艂a, and then without a trail to Bieliczna.

After climbing the "wall of tears," take a break and look around. If you come here when the beech trees are still (or already) without leaves, you might even see the Tatras from here!
