The Kiczera Nature Trail, named after Jan Rafiński, is a short forest-meadow walk that combines natural and cultural-historical elements. It is approximately 2.5 km long and takes about 1.5 hours to complete. However, getting to and from the trail will take longer than just the walk itself.
Getting to the Kiczera Nature Trail
The trail is located on a closed road through the Magurski National Park from Krempna to Ożenna, about 5 km away from the center of Krempna. You can drive to the reservoir (there is a large parking lot) - it will save you 1 km of asphalt road. Alternatively, you can drive to the park boundary and park your car by the MPN forester's lodge (there are no designated parking spots), which is about 2 km away from the entrance into the forest. You can also obtain permission from the MPN to enter (there are daily limits), or you can ride a bicycle or walk along the roadside (about 1-1.5 hours uphill).
The trail starts at the old cemetery in the former village of Żydowskie. Contrary to its name, it was not inhabited by Łemko people, but rather Jews who were a minority. The cemetery contains fragments of the church foundations. According to legend, it is said that the church "rises from the ground" and a procession emerges from it, circling the ghostly building three times.
After the second part of the cemetery (beyond the stream), you will find an information board about the village of Żydowskie, and then you enter the meadow.
The 11 stops along the trail (excluding the boards at the beginning) are only numbers, and you can find the descriptions on a brochure (available for free at the Museum of MNP) or on the MPN website (link below).
Through the colorful meadow of Magura, we will reach a wooden shelter called "deszczochron" (rain shelter). Right next to it, there is a small water pond with a bridge.
Then, we climb through a flowery meadow in the forest to a viewpoint with a described panorama.
Stop and look up - we have never seen so many soaring hosts, which are the symbols of MPN: the white-tailed eagles!
The second part of the trail leads us through the forest around the hill of Kiczera Żydowska, until we reach the valley of the stream and a clearing with a place for a bonfire (permission from MPN required). From there, we come out onto an asphalt road - to reach the entrance to the trail, we need to walk to the right (uphill) for about 15 minutes.

NOTE! It is worth combining a walk along the Kiczera Trail with a visit to Wysokie - the views are stunning, it is definitely worth it!
