Kamieńczyk Waterfall is the tallest waterfall in the Polish Karkonosze Mountains.

The route to the waterfall starts at the parking lot at the intersection of Mickiewicza Street and Czeska Street (about a half-hour drive from the center of Szklarska Poręba) - follow the red trail.

You can also reach the trail by taking the black trail starting at the train station to Szrenica - we think this route is more enjoyable as it is a forest path.

Another option is the route from Szrenica, but we did not take that route.

The walk from the parking lot at the intersection of Mickiewicza Street and Czeska Street takes about 30 minutes.

The trail to the waterfall is not long, but the ascent is quite steep and covered with slippery stones, even in summer, especially after rain. Therefore, it is recommended to wear sturdy ankle-high shoes (hiking boots) for children, regardless of the weather.

At the end of the ascent, there is a marked arrow indicating the descent to the gorge. The gorge trail ends at the same place as the ascent. Therefore, you can first see the waterfall from the top and then, on the way back, enter the gorge, or vice versa. Since there was a shelter at the top and the possibility of having a meal, we chose the second option - first, we went down to the gorge, where you can see the waterfall from below in all its splendor, and then we continued the ascent to the shelter.

Kamieńczyk Gorge

The gorge trail leads us to the base of the waterfall. This is a very attractive part of the trip, especially for children, but we must also be very careful. In a special booth, we are provided with helmets (apparently, there have been cases of pranksters throwing stones from above), and then we walk on metal, narrow, steep stairs, usually passing by people who are returning (the return is the same way). The stairs can also be wet and slippery!

We walk along metal grates suspended between tall rocks in the bottom of the gorge, and we can see the flowing stream below.

A Little Something and Rest At the top of the waterfall, there is a shelter where we can rest and have a snack. Right next to the shelter, there is a wooden hut with a grill that you can use yourself (you can grill the sausages you bought in the hut).

The ascent to the waterfall is quite steep and rocky.
