To Morskie Oko through 艢wist贸wka Pass
This is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful trails in the Tatra Mountains! From here, you can admire the panorama of the High Tatras. The trail mostly leads through open terrain, providing spectacular views. It is not technically difficult and can be easily completed by an average tourist, requiring only a moderate level of fitness.
Is it suitable for children?
The trail is suitable for older children who are already familiar with mountain hiking. We recommend taking the blue trail from the Five Lakes Valley to Morskie Oko (or vice versa). In summer, the route is not technically difficult (the trail is closed from December to mid-May due to the high risk of avalanches), and there are no dangerous passes or challenging sections with chains. A child of school age should be able to handle it technically. However, it does require a good level of fitness. We do not recommend going on the trail after rain or snowfall, as the descent can be quite steep and the rocks may be slippery. In sunny and dry weather, it should not pose major difficulties (except for the significant elevation gain) - it is worth trying because the views are worth the effort!
When hiking from the Five Lakes Valley to Morskie Oko, you will ascend: 300m and descend: 570m.
Starting point of the trail
We start our hike at the parking lot near 艁ysa Polana - this is the beginning of the asphalt trail to Morskie Oko. You can take a bus from the center of Zakopane to reach this point. If you plan to come by car during the season or on weekends, it is advisable to reserve a parking spot in advance.
Initially, we walk along the asphalt road to Morskie Oko until we reach the Mickiewicz Waterfalls. Just after the waterfall, the trails split - this is the last moment to decide whether to first go to Morskie Oko (continue on the asphalt road) or to the Five Lakes Valley - in which case, we turn onto the green trail leading to it. We chose the latter option - first, we hike through the Roztoka Valley to the Five Lakes Valley.

Passage from the Five Lakes Valley to Morskie Oko through 艢wist贸wka Pass
It is worth knowing that in this area of the Tatra Mountains, you can encounter marmots. The path gradually ascends, passing through rocky debris and patches of dwarf pine. Looking back, we can admire the beautiful panorama of the Five Lakes Valley, while on the side, the massive Wo艂oszyn mountain accompanies us. The trail is mostly exposed and offers stunning views!
Descending to Morskie Oko
After reaching R贸wnia nad K臋pa, we begin the equally arduous descent towards Morskie Oko. Although it seems within reach in the distance, the descent will take about an hour. The most challenging part of the trail is crossing the Deep Gully. However, on a dry and sunny day without snow, it should not pose a significant problem. The stones during the descent to Morskie Oko are uneven, making it a bit difficult and uncomfortable.
The most challenging section of the trail - Deep Gully. It may look intimidating in the photo, but even amateurs can pass through it without much difficulty.
Morskie Oko
After the challenging descent to Morskie Oko, we are greeted by the majestic lake. It is already quite late, and we still have a long return journey on the asphalt road ahead of us. The views from this trip will remain in our memories for a long time!
