Chochołowska Valley - walking with a stroller

Chochołowska Valley is closed to motorized vehicles. Halfway to Polana Chochołowska, there is an asphalt road, which later becomes a rocky path along the Chochołowski Stream. You can easily walk this part of the valley with a stroller, but it is not possible to complete the entire route to the mountain hut with a stroller!

Further along the path, it becomes increasingly rocky and gradually ascends. The road becomes more difficult for strollers and less passable. Therefore, if you are walking with a stroller and encounter difficulties, it is best to turn back, as it will only get worse the further you go.

... by horse-drawn carriage or bicycle

You can take a traditional horse-drawn carriage to Polana Chochołowska. You can also take the "Rakoń" train to Polana Huciska (approximately halfway), which runs every half an hour during the summer season. There is also a bike rental service (bicycles are allowed in Chochołowska Valley) - you can ride bikes to the forester's lodge. Bicycles can be rented at the beginning, middle, and near the end of the valley.

Try oscypek cheese and żętyca drink here

There are many historic shepherd's buildings in the valley. Sheep grazing is also practiced here. In the shepherd's hut, you can observe the process of making oscypek cheese and purchase some to try. You can also taste żętyca - a whey drink produced during the production of oscypek cheese. It is very rich and filling!

Shepherd's Hut in Chochołowska Valley

Mountain Hut at Polana Chochołowska

At the end of Polana Chochołowska, you will reach the largest Tatra mountain hut, located at an altitude of 1148 meters above sea level. Here, you can have a warm meal or stay overnight. There is a terrace with tables in front of the hut. During the season, it is advisable to make a reservation in advance. Near the hut, there is a small museum located in an old shepherd's hut.

A few hundred meters from the hut, beneath the forest, there is a chapel where Mass is held at 1 PM from June to October.

The hiking trails around Chochołowska Valley are not the most difficult. The peaks are mostly covered with grass and are much gentler compared to the rocky High Tatras.

During springtime, the valley is beautifully adorned with crocuses - a truly enchanting sight.
