Beginning of the Green Trail in Karpacz

The Green Trail starts at the bus stop at the intersection of trails on Turystyczna Street. From here, we can hike up Karkonoska Street or take the Biły Jar cable car to the beginning of the forest path. There is a paid parking lot for cars on Olimpijska Street (near the lower station of the cable car to Kopa).

The Green Trail enters the forest on Olimpijska Street, right next to a point with a gravitational anomaly. It will lead us to Polana, a crossroads of trails, which is also a charming and scenic place on the main road called "ceprostrada" to Śnieżka (the highest peak in the Karkonosze Mountains).

The trail ascends through the forest, with an elevation gain of almost 300 meters. Its great advantage is that it mostly goes through the forest, providing shade and tranquility. It is relatively less crowded with tourists.

Along the way, we won't encounter any major difficulties, and the attraction includes small streams flowing into the murmuring Pląsawa below.

Who was Bronek Czech?

While taking a break during the ascent, we can remember the trail's patron - a versatile and talented Polish skier from the interwar period, a secret courier during World War II, a prisoner, and a victim of Auschwitz concentration camp.

After about an hour of climbing, we will reach a viewpoint on Pląsawa: a fenced platform with benches - a good place to rest and have a picnic.

After a while, approximately one and a half hours from the trailhead, we will reach the main road from Karpacz to Śnieżka, known as the "ceprostrada," and through it, we will arrive at a meadow simply called Polana.

Despite the common name of the meadow, it is worth deviating from the Green Trail - the views are stunning!

The Green Trail continues through Kocioł Wielkiego Stawu to Słonecznik - this is over an hour of climbing:

From Polana, we can continue on the main road to the Strzecha Akademicka mountain shelter (unmarked trail, approximately 40 minutes), further to Śnieżka, or to the wonderful Samotnia shelter near Mały Staw (Little Pond), or through Polana to the famous rock formations in the Karkonosze Mountains: the Pielgrzymy group
