History of the Town and Reservoir
Since 1610, there were iron processing plants in the village. In 1630, the foundry produced about 800 wagons of iron annually. Soon, a wire and sheet metal factory was built here. The name of the town comes from the production of sheet metal.
The reservoir was created in the 1840s on marshy land. The dammed water was supposed to power the nearby ironworks, but due to the prevailing climatic conditions (alternating droughts and frosts), this solution did not ensure a continuous energy supply, so it was abandoned.
Today, the reservoir serves recreational purposes for local residents and tourists - it is considered one of the biggest tourist attractions of the Blachownia municipality.
