How to get to Nowa Huta from the center of Krakow by bike?

There are many roads, as in any city. Designated bike paths run along most major streets, such as Mogilska Street / Pokoju Avenue and then Jana Paw艂a II Avenue, or from the north: General T. Bora Komorowskiego Avenue and General W. Anders Avenue. However, do we really want to ride through the city?

Or maybe we should choose a longer route, but without exhaust fumes? The route along the Vistula River embankments will allow us to forget that we are in the city (at least for a while). We will ride without street noise, intersections, traffic lights, cars, and pedestrians.

Starting point of the bike route along the Vistula River

Of course, we can start the trip anywhere, but the further away from the Old Town and Wawel, the better. The bike path theoretically leads this way, but due to the crowds of pedestrians, the ride will not be easy or pleasant.

A good starting point for the route is the area near Galeria Kazimierz (parking!) and Kotlarski Bridge in Zab艂ocie, which is Park D膮bie.

D膮bie - Czy偶yny

We ride along Kurlandzki Boulevard, passing the urban beach and playgrounds. On this stretch, we have to dismount at two places: at the D膮bie weir (narrow tunnel near the dam):

and at the Bia艂ucha (Pr膮dnik) crossing - here, there are only steep stairs with a bike rail...

Czy偶yny - Nowa Huta

From this point on, we only have a comfortable path ahead: without intersections and major slopes. The views on the left are diverse: mostly urban and industrial, but towards the Vistula River, it's beautiful and wild!

Every now and then, beaten paths lead towards the riverbank. Perhaps we can find a nice spot there for a picnic by the water?

From the Vistula River route to Plac Centralny

The asphalt path along the embankments ends just before Wanda Bridge (it descends onto an asphalt road). To reach the center of Nowa Huta from here, we descend onto Zag艂oby Street.

It is a small, peaceful residential street. On weekends, there were several times more cyclists (including families with children!) than cars. After a few hundred meters, we enter Otm臋towa Street.

Here, we can choose a beaten, off-road path through 艁膮ki Nowohuckie (turn left at the chapel), or an asphalt path (also to the left, a bit further) along the grounds of S. 呕eromski Hospital (along the way, there is a playground >>>), and reach the center of Nowa Huta: Plac Centralny and Nowohuckie Centrum Kultury:

...and then continue along Pokoju Avenue and Bulwarowa Street to the Park near Zalew Nowohucki:

Nowa Huta - attractions and sightseeing

So why go to Nowa Huta at all? We go to Plac Centralny not only to sit and have a meal at the food trucks near NCK! In the meantime, we can visit places like 艁膮ki Nowohuckie, explore the Museum of Nowa Huta, the famous shelters, visit the J. Matejko Manor in Krzes艂awice, or relax by Zalew Nowohucki.
